Hello.
The world feels difficult right now - lurching from one crisis to the next. If you're struggling to focus and concentrate, please know that you're not alone. My only advice is to manage your news consumption wisely and to focus on the things you can impact.
These are my choices:-
- I am choosing not to watch the news.
- I am choosing to read the newspaper once a day for ten minutes in the morning only.
- I am choosing to have conversations with my children about what is happening.
- I am choosing to donate essential items to a collection that is heading over to Ukraine.
- I am choosing loving kindness for everyone I cross paths with this week.
- I am choosing to focus my energies on the things where I continue to make a difference; e.g. diversity, inclusion, autism awareness.
With that in mind we have some announcements... Drum roll please...

Courageous Conversation Circles are at the heart of our culture at THC. We've seen a real need over the past two years for a safe space where people can connect with one another without fear of being shut down or judged. We've also all been craving connection in our isolated workspaces and lives. And we all need to process the big changes that are happening in our society and places of work at the moment. As part of our offering, Courageous Conversation Circles (CCCs) have worked brilliantly as an accompaniment to our webinars. After participants have attended a webinar, the CCCs are a place to deepen the learning and forward the action. They allow people the space to process out loud some of the key themes, thus strengthening memory muscle. They also allow people to co-create action and hold each other accountable. Part of the cultural shift we are looking for is to normalise conversations about DEI in the workplace. Such sessions are designed to equip people with the skills and experience of having courageous conversations about key topics, so that they can go on to host and normalise similar day to day conversations in their workplaces and daily working lives. So it is a natural extension of that work, and our mission to embed courageous conversation in the everyday, that we are launching our podcast. The objective here is to role model courageous conversations by showcasing some of the skills required. And for me to learn by leaning in to the uncertainty of the DEI topic. In the first one, which felt super vulnerable, I speak to Adé Adeniji about his experiencing these conversations in the workplace and in his own life...

IWD
The theme of IWD this year is #BreakTheBias so, in the run up to International Women’s Day, the Hobbs Consultancy team have been thinking about their commitments to breaking the bias when it comes to gender stereotypes. See below for a sneak preview! We are looking forward to sharing the rest of them with you on 8th March. If you don’t already follow us you can do so on LinkedIn and Facebook to keep up with all our news!
If you want to take your own #BreakTheBias photo and make your own commitment, there are resources on the IWD website.
Finally, if you’ve not already done it, this would be a great time to complete our Female Careers and Leadership E-learning Module. Register yourself or get in touch to buy it for your team.
Take care,
Team THC xx
