Hi all!

There has been a lot of talk about menopause recently, from the menopause abuse of an employee in Essex to the fab #stopthepause campaign from Koru Kids. And rightly so – it is a life experience that over 50% of the UK population is likely to go through and yet is still shrouded in stigma and embarrassment for many. Stories of female employees being shamed for ‘blushing’, whilst having a hot flush, are more common than is acceptable.

Women are worried to speak up about their experiences for fear of being seen as incapable and losing their jobs. Koru Kids have reported that there are as many as 1 million women considering leaving their jobs this year because of a lack of menopause support. It is as much of an inclusion topic as any other and yet is often left off the agenda, despite the fact that it feeds into mental health in the workplace, as well as the whole issue of gender equality.

We’ve been delivering webinars to clients as an education piece around the menopause and are aware of how uninformed many businesses are when it comes to the topic. Everybody has become so lost in their preconceived bias or embarrassment that they’ve forgotten to find out what they need to know to keep their teams running in a healthy and productive way.

We are currently working on a ‘menopause’ e-learning module as part of our Life Events suite coming in early summer. This suite is specifically aimed at giving Line Managers the tools to support their direct reports through key life events. Keep an eye out for our webinar on 12th May to coincide with International Day of Families when it will be launched!

In the meantime, we are looking forward to International Women’s Day, when we can celebrate women at all stages of their life and how to #BreakTheBias when it comes to gender equality. Watch this space for some exciting content around that theme in March.

You can also check out our Female Careers and Leadership module here which looks at tackling the barriers women face within their careers. Use the code 8UHMSSWN for 30% off until the end of February.

January Webinar – watch again

It was great to have you all at our first webinar of the year. Adé and Rox had a courageous conversation about Healthy Dialogue vs Cancel Culture. Those of you that were there will have found an amazing safe space in which they explored multiple themes and discussed ways to approach difficult situations with vulnerability, without compromising your integrity.
If you were unable to attend (or were there but would like to watch it again!), here is the recording.

Since the webinar, Adé has created a workshop teaching the skills to engage in healthy dialogue. For more information about this or any of our training – contact us.

That's all for now folks, hope to see you soon!

Take care,

Team THC xx
