I'd say Gareth Thomas was one of the best keynote speakers I've ever seen. I had made up that things wouldn't be as powerful over zoom, but I was wrong. Again we wanted to do something to mark the occasion. The theme this year is 'Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World'. We are really aware that this global experiment in working at home has proven what many disabled people have said for year - we can and need to work more flexibly. However, we're also aware that the pandemic has exacerbated a lot of inequality. I will be speaking to Will Pike (Mumbai Terror Attack survivor and Disability Activist) and Emma Gardner (Co-Founder at Born Equal Consults striving for The Three Es: Everyday Equity for Everyone) about their vision for a post pandemic world which is truly inclusive for people with disabilities.
